For the most part, kids are notoriously bad at planning for the future. It's one of the things that keeps a kid, well, kid-like I guess.
Now, this is a generalization and I don't mean to insult you Type-A folks who plan out your lives to the second because that feels better. I'm talking about kids as a rule--the norms not the exceptions.
As seniors, you are getting ready to leave the halls of Oak and go and make your way in the world and that can be a very scary concept. It becomes less scary however, if you prepare for some idea of what the future may bring.
So, my question for you this week is--do you have a plan? If so, what is it? If not, how come?
As of right now I kind of do have a plan. I plan on going to ACCC and getting a nice job while I’m still in high school. I think staying at home for at least 2 years and going to ACCC is a good idea because I can take my time and find out what I really want to do when I get older. I don’t have a MASTER plan yet because I guess you can say I’ve been really lazy. I haven’t put too much thought into it also because I’m really focusing on getting a job and trying to support myself and not have to depend on my parents so much. In the long run I really want to work with computers. I’m going to start looking into some schools with good computer programs and try and find a school close to home so I don’t have to travel so much to see my family, But right not I’m really focused on passing all my classes and graduating highschool.

ReplyDeleteRight now I do have a plan for myself. I plan on going to ACCC for teaching. I’m going to ACCC for 2 years then transferring to Stockton. Stockton was my very first choice and go to the EOF Program. I want to go to school for teaching because I love kids. I want to teach kindergarten and pre-school. Well these are the steps I am going to follow in order to get where I want to be:

2. Slowly move out and get my own apartment for me and my son.
3. Have to be a substitute first before i become a teacher.
4. CAREER TIMEE! (: become a teacher and enjoy waking up in the morning to teach my young children and finally get a house for me and my family!
Yes I do have a plan after leaving Oakcrest High school. I plan on going to Anthem Institute for 12 months graduating Anthem with a degree in graphic design and animation. Work my behind off to keep on getting smart at graphic design and animation until I get a job working for a big company and then to continue keep on working on perfecting those two forms of art to eventually I wish to no longer working under people. People are working under me. I understand that all this will test my dedication to what. I love but with the right people pushing and believing in me nothing or no one will stop me from pushing through this path called my dream/plan after high school.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first walked the halls of oak I knew I wanted to go to college and make something out of myself. Now being a senior and not knowing what school is the right one for me is really hard. I’m the kind of person that can’t make a decision to save my life and that going to college and picking the right one for me is hard enough. Right now I have my eyes set on County College of Morris. It’s in North Jersey and not too far away from home. I plan on going there for two years and I really don’t know what I will do after that. My goal is to become a lacrosse coach for a college one day and I know I can make hat goal happen. It’s been my goal since I started playing lacrosse, I could see myself coaching kids and helping them with life stuff, not just lacrosse but of the field things to. I know I could make a difference in a young man’s life but to do that I know that I have to work hard at everything I do now and be ready for the optical in front of me and that is college.
ReplyDeleteBunje, this question was MADE for me. Whenever I am bored, I sit down and plan out my life, and as you will see, I am bored often. After lovely Oakcrest, I plan on attending MLU (Mays Landing University, or ACCC) for two years, and then transferring. Thanks to my dad, who's a veteran, I get to attend college for free up until I am 24, so I plan on taking advantage of it. Ultimately, I plan on owning my own day care center, or teaching young children (not older ones, they just aren't cute anymore). I come from a very large family, so young kids are always running around, and I'm usually the one trying to make them smile or laugh, it's really just my calling, I love kids (but not in a pedophile kind of way). Also, growing up, I was placed in day care, because my parents always had to work, and inside the walls of Before and After School is where I made some of my very closest friends, and I want to have a place that I can do the same for other kids. If the day care continues to diminish by the time I am of age, then I would like to teach preschool, kindergarten, 1st grade or 2nd grade, any of the ones where the kids are still a lot shorter than me. And then, to show you just how bored I get, I plan on having kids when I turn 26, and I want to have at least 3, and at most 4, and have them all consecutively so then I can be a "hot mom" one day lol. I've even got names, lol. Emma Leigh, Vada or Jaina Lynn, Thomas James, and the first boy will be named after whoever my husband is. So, as you can see, my life is REALLY planned out to the tee, I am really the exception, or maybe I'm just really bored...
ReplyDeleteYes i have a plan so far. My plan so far is to attend ACCC for three years and get my bachleor's degree in RN-nursing. Work at my job in the mall for the summer and continue volunteering at the atlanticare hospital over the summer and try to get a job there. After that i plan to transfer and finish getting my Master's degree in pediatrics nurse practitioner. During the time i am getting my Master's degree i plan to work at a hospital with my bachleor's degree to get the training needed and after i get my master's i plan to work as a nurse practitioner. Hopefully after sometime in the medical field i'll decide wether i plan to continue school and get my PhD in pediatrics or continue as a nure. Either way i plan to work in the Pediatric field because i love kids and there the only people that can cheer me up. Thats my basic plan now all i have to do is follow threw with it and figure out all the details.
ReplyDeleteyes i do have a plan when i get out of Oakcrest. My plans are to go into the military and become a piolet or go into cargo. I am looking towards cargo more i mean because i get to go places were i want to go not were i am told i mean i have a little problem with taking orders but i know whaen i get in there i am going to have to get over it and fast..... While i am in to military it will be part time so that i can go to school to become a State Trooper.. thats what i have always dreamed of being. I have had this dream for a while and i have my mind set on it i am not letting anyone or anything change what i want for my life or my goals. I set the standards high so i can push myself to be a bigger and better person and out of five kids i am the only one that is going to do something with my dreams. Thats why life as we speak is hard in school and everything because they are getting us ready for what the world is going to be like and i thanks all the people that are hard on me and dont take any of my crap... So therefor yes i do have plans and i plan to stick to what i have my mind set on .........
ReplyDeleteI can’t tell you what my life is going to be because I just don’t know what the future holds for me. After this year, I plan on leaving the hallways of the Oakcrest Falcons and become an Albright College Lion. My decision hasn’t been made up yet just because I am waiting to see who offers me more. Its either Delaware Valley College or Albright College. It’s hard to tell what I want to do but I just hope that I can make a good choice and just become a grown man. I want to be a better person, a better son, and a better athlete. These days you really don’t have a choice with if you want to go to college or not because these days, you have to. No matter what though, I want to just to make a better life for my future and experience more things. From there on I just plan on finding the job that will make me enjoy what I make and marrying the girl of my life. Technically my life is like any other person, I just want to be able to succeed in my life and live the life I want.
ReplyDeleteafter i get out of highschool i can't really say where i am going to be. everytime i plan something it never really goes how i want it to be. i am going to go to accc or if i get a accepted letter anywhere else. i really dont have a plan yet and havno't really thought about it. i know that i dont want to live with my parents and i dont want to move far from them ethier. i want to become a RN nurse and work as a pediatric nurse. i currently have a part time job but i do want to find something better when i do get out of highschool.i want to get married and have kids but not until i become a nurse and start on my nursing job. In the future i want to travel and experenice new things. i would love to plan my future and it be extrally what i want it to be. planning was never for me. i hope in my future i am very sucessful and have a struggle free life. i want to be different from my family and live a happy healthy stress free life.
ReplyDeleteYes I have a plan, my plan is 1st to pass English and my stuff right with high school, than I plan to go on and go live with my brother in Virginia, and attend Virginia Union University. This was my 1st choice of schools because I like the campus and everything, plus my brother lives right down the street from their. An I always know their somebody there with me. I will be going there for business management. And then later go to trade school and learn how to cut hair. When I get my license for that I plan to own my barber shop, with my other brother jalen. And start my life with 3 kids and a girlfriend, ( i dont want to get married till im like 38 or 39).

I was really trying to go to Rowan or Rugters a school like them but im goin to Devry university. It is not what i wanted but im going to make the best out of it. I did know what i wanted to go for but now that im thinking about changing it. I dont know i got alot on my mind right now. All i know is that im out of here by august. so therefore i do have a plan and im going to achieve that plan. Im going to turn that plan to reality.

ReplyDeleteI don't really have a plan. I'm going with the flow for now until I get a full time job. I can't say how my life will span out, because I'm not God. My life isn't a schedule with a list of things to be, i just live and go through the motions. it wouldn't be any fun to plan my life out, because i would know the future with no surprises. Getting a job is on my to do list, but life in general is just random whatever. I believe God has my life planned already, so i'm just having fun before my time is up.
ReplyDeleteWell if i Graduate i would like to go to college or the Air Force. I say the word if because im failing english horribly. If i dont pass this year then im dropping out of school. But hopefully something good comes out at the end.I Feel like the sooner my career starts as being a pilot then the sooner i would consider myself a successful man. I really dont know what college i want to go to. I would like to goto Jacksonville University because they have classes that you can take to be a pilot. Then Again the Air Force because its free but my eyesight isnt good so at this point i dont know what i want to do
ReplyDeleteThinking about my future is pretty inimidating, then again i don't really do well with change and after high school thats gonna be a huge step into the real world. It doesn't really worry me to much because i already have a taste of what the real world is sorta like. My plan after high school os a little bit of a struggle do to certain prsonal situations, but normally my dream plan would be to go to ACCC play volleyball to keep myself fit and maintain a job to keep myself moving. From there i want to transferr to stockton and keep going for volleyball and study criminal justice that way i can become a forensic psychologist. As for boys that is a whole 'nother story... In my eyes they are just a distraction to my plan. So for now boys are gonna be put on hold for a while.

All everyone talks about is going to accc but thats just not for me. I dont want to go there, i wanna to go to some place that is new to me. I was going to go to college near home, but i change my mind because i want to go away to a different college and try/see new things. I want to meet new people and be around new people and new places. If i stay home nothing really changes but i want to leave to start my own life instead of living in everyone elses. I do know, then when i know my life is going down the path that i want it too, i want to get married to man/love of my life :) then start a family. I just hope that everything turns out the way i hope it will with college and i live a happy life.
ReplyDeleteMy plans are to actually move out of my house by the end of this month. I'll be forced to purchase a car because i need some way of transportation, but thats not really a problem since that was already in my plans since last year. I'll be getting my license soon so it'd be nice to have my own car. That's going down this month, but if we want to talk about my plans for the next two years we're looking at two years in ACCC to get my associate's degree. I want to major in accounting and a minor in business administration. I will be needing a source of income, so while im going to school i plan on becoming a server at the restaurant im currently working at right now. I should make enough money to support my sister (that's who im moving with) and I financially without any problems. I've researched accounting very well and it is actually one of the top majors if you're looking for oppportunities out in the world. It's also one of the top majors based on satisfaction. If everything goes well i plan on transfering to ROwan University and get my masters. Thats what ive planed for the 3-4 years and if i just keep doing my best i know i can be successful.
ReplyDeleteI am a very spontaneous person and hate to plan for anything. I like to let the pieces fall where they may. Even though that is a stupid concept that i believe in, I don't always follow it. I have planned that by the age of 20 I want to join a branch of the military and leave after 4-6 years of enlistment. After I plan on some sort of either nursing or mechanic school. I would like to join the peace corps to help people. I will probably get caught up in a revolution and die in a foreign country that really has no meaning to me, but that all comes with wanting to be an adventurer. I just want to lead an extraordinary life that not many people can do. I think I am crazy or at least like a challenge. Money is of little importance to me and I want to help people who are in need of it.
ReplyDeleteNo, I really don't have a plan for what I am going to do after leaving Oak. I never really took the time to think about it. I was thinking about joining the National Guard because they pay the way for college. After college I don't really have a plan though. Rather live life on the edge than plan for what's to come.

ReplyDeleteI do have a plan when i graduate from Oak I plan on going to college.Hopfully i will either be going to Florida or Phili. I also will be movin out on my own whitch is why i plan on going so far for a college cause i dont want to get caught up in depending on someone else all the time. I will hopfully be going to college for animation since i love to draw and once im done i plan on gettig a high paying job and enough money to live confortably.
First I want to actually graduate this year. Its not 100% sure if Im graduating yet so I am really working on that. But after high school I was planning to go to Shore Beauty School but now I dont think Im going. Its just too much money and I dont know if Im really into it. Ive been also thinking of going into daycare. I really need to find a job and a car! Another thing I plan for the next year or 2 is to have a baby. But for that I need a job and to be out my parents house..which I really want to get out of their house. I basically dont have a set plan and Im just confused and maybe a little scared for the future. I guess I dont have a plan because I just dont care enough. All Im totally sure about is that I want a family and a future with the man I love but who knows what will happen. Honestly I dont even know what to say..My lifes just a big blur right now.
ReplyDeleteWell let's see after graduating from high school I plan to move to Mississippi and live with my mom and go to school at mgccc and I'm gong there for computers and I plan to do culinary on the side and as I am going to school I want to get a job and help my mom with some bills and hopefully end up saving enough money to buy a car and that's all I have really planned I don't plan on getting married until I get my on house which will probably awhile from now

I Also wanted to go to stocken because it is close to home. My parents cant afford me going somewhere out of state because living on campus is way too expensive. And my parents are also paying for my brother tuition. He also lives on campus. After i get out of college, that's when i would like to get my life settled with a house and family. it has also been in my interest in joining the military. i look at that as in making an easy path to a good career
ReplyDeleteYes I do have a plan. My first plan is to make it out of high school. Next will be to find a college where I will fit in and be able to play ball 2 out of my 4 years. Then I will try to major in something under dealing as a social worker in the juvenile justice system. These things are very important steps in my life.
ReplyDeleteI would say right now its being really tough. Its hard finding colleges. School is getting harder. Sometimes I feel like I might not make it.I feel as though if I don’t complete these goal. I will be nothing in life. I would feel disappointed. I would feel as though I let myself down, my family, teachers, coaches, & friends if I do not got to college. I want to be able to be a look at myself 10years from now and have a smile on my face.
I was never really the type of person to make plan for my self. I have tried many times but even when I try to set something up and live by a plan that I think will work to my advantage I just end up doing something else and forgetting about what my plan was. But after high school I have a little breif idea of what I want to do. I know that I will be going to Accc next year and I plan on getting a job that pays pretty good anything more than a little minimum wage and im just going to live day by day and really take time to see what I want to do with my future over the course of the next to years than after I figure out what I really want to do and get my life figured out and really know what I want to do I am going to transfer into rowan and get what ever kind of degree needed in order to pursue that career ive decided that this would be a better idea so that I don’t just rush my self into things and get stuck in a career that I wont want a lot can change in 2 years so I just want to make sure im positive on the career that I will pursue
ReplyDeleteFirst I will graduate from this school and make it the best time as I possibly can. From there I am going to Shore Beauty School for cosmetology and take my State Board Test and I will pass it! I have a job now and I plan on keeping it for as long as I can while I’m in school so I can make some money because I want to live on my own as soon as I can make my own payments on a apartment. After 6 weeks of school I’m going to be able to get a job at a salon so that I can start another job and make more money and start my career. After working in a salon for a good couple years I think maybe I want to go back to school for business management and see where that can take me. Possibly start my own shop and make a living off of that.
ReplyDeleteWell I sort of have a plan, but nothings definite and its actually a couple of ideas really. I know that to make a successful living, college is most likely coming into the picture at some point. So far that’s the first part of the plan. Next I’ve learned that college is very expensive, and I really don’t plan on coming out with 100,000 dollars of debt because that’s just no fun. So at one point the Military was sounding like a really good idea for me because they would pay for everything, but then after thinking for awhile I wasn’t sure if I wanted to commit the next 4 years for that, and another 3 or 4 for college. I have been trying to balance out witch would save more and witch would put me on top. It’s a really hard choice. Now just the other day my dad told me I should go to ACCC for 2 years and then transfer to a “ real” school. Im just kidding with that, but a school that is more academically inclined. If I did that I could probably save about 45,000 dollars and that’s pretty encouraging when I don’t have any money. So out of this I have about three possible plans that could all work, or fail and leave me as a bum. I hope I choose the right one.
ReplyDeleteI honestly do not have an exact plan for after high school. I know I want to go to ACCC for two years then Stockton University. I always wanted to be a teacher, a elementary school teacher. Then I started babysitting this summer and I realize I can not deal with kids everyday. Then I started thinking about being a school teacher but then again I'm not sure what subject I would like to teach because I don't have a favorite subject. In the mean time while I'm thinking about what exactly I want to do I am going to ACCC. After college I want to buy my own house with someone, well after I have a really good job. I want to move out of Jersey because I hate it hear, I hate cold weather I want to move somewhere it's not ALWAYS hot but it's hot most of the time. Thats about all I have so far and I'm not even sure about that. Sorry that it's late :(
ReplyDeletebunje, im terrified!!!!! i have no clue what to do, my life came to a stop and im stumped!!! i have two more full months im in school and im just trying to figure out what to do0o .. i feeel like when i leave here my life is going to end.. my parent are moving, leaving me with nothin!! i neeed to start my life.. i know i always joke about getting married to a rich ass hunk whos loving and caring, someone who wont sign a pre-nup haha just kidding but im really nottt.... thats the sad part.. im with douche Joe but our relationship is going no where, and im ready to just give upppp!!! dont get me wrong, home life is perfect, its just.. my life at a HALT! its scary maaaann, thinkin about the cruel world out there, so many roads, but dont know how to to drive!! (just an expression, i have my licence) but u know what i mean.

Second im going to save up for a apartment trying not to live in my parents house forever. Next i would have to save up for some classes. I might end up doing it for a while but it will be worth it. Next go travel America, but definitely coming back. Jersey is my only home it has most of my family. Probably go find out what the west coast is like see if they got a better sunset. I would to go far but not to far for college and i would like to see am i ready to be a man in this world or im going to need to be by my mother for life. During college i would like to play basketball and change my whole work studies cause in high school i was real lazy and didnt want to do anything. In college the professors dont care about your grade and they would let you fail like its no problem cause they are still getting paid no matter what, with you doing the work or not. Then i want to be one of the people to gradutate college in my family cause that is going to be a big step. after college if everything palns out to like who i want it to be i would like to have a family and live a good life. I just needs to get this lazy stuff and throw it in the trash. Just how obama had made a change so can i and i want to make Mrs. bunje proud and my family but most of them all my MOTHER.
