"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."
Mohandas Ghandi said that, and I, animal-lover to the core, believe it whole-heartedly. I do, after all, have four dogs, and I truly believe my life is better for having them in it. Except when they poop in areas not designated as pooping areas. Like, in my closet for example. Ugh.

If I could, I would have goats, horses, a chicken or two and maybe a peacock to round it all out. Cats--well, they need love too and I have owned many in my lifetime, but I could probably go the rest of my life and not own another one. But, I find them exquisite to watch.
Now, in some cases, makes me a hypocrite because despite my aforementioned affinity for creatures of the four-legged variety, I am NOT a vegetarian. Barbecued chicken or steaks on the grill are way too good for me to pass up, and I NEVER met a burger I didn't like. However, I have been known to start fights with strangers at the dog park because of what I believed to be unnecessarily harsh treatment of their dogs, and I also think the punishments for animal cruelty should be higher than what they are currently. By a lot. Don't even get me started on Michael Vick. I lock my dogs in a safe place the second #7 jumps onscreen. Eww.
Now, onward and upward.
Do you have a pet?
What kind? What is his/her name?
How did you choose that name?
Do you believe that you can communicate with your pet or with animals in general?
Can they communicate with you? How do you know?
What is your take on the activists that spend hours campaigning for the rights of animals? Are they wasting their time frivolously when they could be helping human beings out there in the world?
Do animals even HAVE rights? Should they? Should there be a limit to what people do for them? If so, what is it? If not, where do you draw a line? (400 words/50pts)
I had a dog, and it was a Doberman his name was Merlin. He was the best dog ever! I didn’t get to choose his name...my dad picked it. He decided on this name from King Arthur and Merlin was the magician. Yes I do believe that you can communicate with your animals. That’s why people train animals so that the animals will understand certain commands and have a connection. When you’re lying down...They will come and lay with you. No matter what kind of day that you have and you come home there always happy to see you, this makes what ever day you were having that much better. The longer you have your pet the more they learn to understand your day and when you come home and things like your daily routine, I think that’s amazing. When you ask them if they have to go to the bathroom, they understand. If you ask them if they’re hungry they know what you’re saying. So yes even though it might take time, they learn how you are and what you say and even answer you. Activists, they don’t bother…I don’t have any outlook on them. If that’s what they want to fight for the animals be my guest. There not bothering me the only thing that annoys me about people who fight for rights for animals when they are over dramatic about it and making it way more than it needs to be. Animals should have rights but I don’t think that its necessary to spend ridiculous hours outside over little things. When they should be worrying about humans or fixing this planet first, then everything will fall into place. Animals of course have rights. To me that’s a no brainer. Some people don’t agree with putting animals down, or dressing their pets. But with any type of rights there is always a limit to how far you can take them. With clothing you should be able to dress your animals its cute! The only limit I can think is that you cannot dress your animal up in some crazy outfit where they can walk or something. That’s where I draw the line. Or if they’re sick and owners won’t put them down because they’ll miss them. That’s cruel, your animal is dying how can you be selfish? Put them out of there misery. They deserve the best and to be able to be happy, I’m sure they aren’t when they are in pain.
ReplyDeleteI dont necessarily Have a dog myself anymore but at my aunt's house she has a few and one in particular that I take care of is the pitbull. His name is wesson after the gun smith n wesson. I didnt my uncle did because he used to hunt alot and that was his favorite pistol.Yes but not as in talking but in motions and tones i think animals understand you more.Yes they can communicate with us but only on a certain level. Ok you might think it's a little wierd but truthfully I'd rather go out and campaign for animals rights instead of human rights. I have a soft spot for dogs and i was actually thinking of becoming a spca worker. Not for nothing humans can actually do something about there situation dog's don't really have that much of a choice. According to the government animals do have rights but if you think about it us treating them the way we do and keeping them captive all the time really arent great rights. Yes they should have rights if anything they should have even more.No as long as people are willing to go all out and actually help them there shouldnt be a limit only one set by the people themselves.I Feel pretty stongly about this topic and i think there shouldnt really be a line drawn for how far everyone has there limits so push them until you cant anymore then go a little farther 'till you can't push anymore then you draw the line : )
ReplyDeleteI own a pitbull name Socks. He is chestnut color and has a white diamond on his forehead. Also, he has a dipped tail and white paws thats why i named him Socks. Socks is 4 months old, but he's big. I trained him to listen to me, so when he goes outside I ont have to put a leash on him. I personally don't talk to him but he's part of the family. I believe that pets don't need rights, however humans should treat their pets as if their own child. They should have rights in doing things most pets do, but some people go overboard with their dogs and buy the craziest things for them, like a dog stroller, etc.
ReplyDeleteWell, I have two dogs, but the only animals I have really "communicated" with are my cats Sandy (deceased) and Oliver, who now lives at my grandpops. When I was a wee little girl at the tender age of 6 I had a large calico cat named Sandy. I named her after the girl on Grease, Sandra Dee, and she was like her in every way. She was adventurous, friendly and very beautiful. Everyday when I came home from daycare I would tell her about my day and she seemed to listen, it was great. She was kind of like my best friend when I was little, and she was always there for me. I remember when she died, she got into a brawl with another animal while I was at my dads and I never got to say goodbye, it was horrible. She was always there to rub against me when I was sad or like my hand, that's how I knew she was listening. Now to my other cat, Oliver, she was Sandy's sister. She's still alive and when my dad got into his motorcycle accident, she ran right up to me and rubbed against me as I was crying. I talked to her and told her how I felt and I'll never really know but I'm sure she listened. I think animal activists are right in their fighting, animals DO have rights and have no reason to be beaten. Even if they had an accident, or bit you, they don't deserve to be beaten to a bloody pulp. I tear up every time I see one of those animal shelter commercials and if I had a credit card I'd be broke from donating. Some people go a little overboard with their animals, like, dressing them up, okay, at your wedding or on Halloween fine, but your pet does not need to be wearing a sweater every day, it's sort of ridiculous and pointless, that's what fur is for. I also don't like when people put pets before people. I understand loving your pet but when you tell your child you can't go to their baseball game because Pookie has a puppy play date is a little outrageous. And why do people give their dogs makeovers? THEY'RE ANIMALS. To some extent, they enjoy getting dirty or looking like other wild animals. That is where I draw the line.
ReplyDeleteI had a dog named Adultress. She was a pitbull boxer. We gave her the name adultress because She had a "A'" on her back of her neck. All the girl's in my family including me, Al have a name starting with "A". Since we adopted her she was more considered our sister then our pet. I think you can communicate with an animal. My dog wouldn't necessary talk but she would do things to tell us what she wanted. When my dog would want to go outside she would hop up and down. I would ask her if she wanted to go outside and she would growl, meaning she had to. She would also let us know when she wanted food in her bowl. She would howl in a different way than wanting to go outside and we would know. I also had an other dog named Avalanche. He learned to communicate with us also. We used to have a bell on the door so we knew when someone was going in or out. My dog figured out that the bell would ring every time someone would go outside. My dog trying to commutate with us used to ring the bell every time it would want to go outside. Animals don’t talk but they have their way of trying to get what they want if you pay more attention to them your find more and more ways they try to communicate to their owners. I think that Activists should continue to help animals because they need help as much as humans do. Animals suffer, get abused, and are abandoning daily. They need people to be on their side too. I think animals have the same rights as humans. Animals have emotions, a heart, and breathe the same air think it's right for someone to go to jail for abusing an animal. Animals are raised by their owner and are going to act as it was trained to act like similar to a mother and its child. A mother raises its child and shows them right from wrong. There should be no limit for helping humans why should there be a limit for helping animals. If someone likes helping animals and has a passion for them they should do their best in helping them. People should do what they’re good at doing. Animals need as much support as possible even thought they can't thank people I would think they really appreciate the support. I think that people should put them self’s in an animal's place and see if they'll need support.
ReplyDeleteI would not say that I have only one dog I have multiple dogs. I have a pit bull, a min pin, and two puggles .The pit bulls name is Baby Girl the min pins name is Mia and the puggles names are Gus and Glory. No I did not pick the dogs names I wish that I choose them thought but my brother picked out there names poor dog I feel bad for them. I believe that you can communicate with animals because when you tell them to sit they do that’s means that they understand you and they do as you tell them to so that’s a way of communication. Also when they are puppies you teach them right from wrong so that when they grow up they know what they can do and what they can’t so there has to be a way of communication because they understand what you are instructing them to do. Yes dogs can communicate with you when they bark and they are standing at the door it means they have to go to the bathroom. when they are waiting at their food bowl it means they know it’s time to eat I know especially know my dogs do it all the time when we eat they eat at the same time we do it pretty cool how they know when it’s time to eat and they want you to feed them the little things they do that we understand. NO they are not they have a good reason to be campaign animals are like humans in the world they have just as much right to live as humans. The only difference is that they cannot speak but whom or what has the right to try and take their rights and their lives away. The people that are campaign have a weak spot in their hearts for animals and it is good you and other people in earth would like to have people that care that much about them and they barely even know them. Yes animals have rights just as ever living person or living creature has how are you going to take a animals life from it when it itself does not know what it may have done or what maybe going on in that time and moment. Continued how can the government step in and tell people “hey hum you can’t give this animal all the things it needs we want your money instead” its vertirly impossible if people want to help of animals in need hey let them do as they please with their money. They go out and work there buts off for what they believe so let them live it up let them save animals lives let them there should be not limit to what a human can do to help a animals in need . But there is one part where I will draw the line if a animals is on its death bed then there is nothing going to give it the spunk to keep it going. At least try and make it comfortable so that the animals can go in peace that’s where I would draw the line at.
ReplyDeleteIn my entire life i have had 2 dogs, a black labrador (Sparky) and a chihuahua (Pepe), a ferret (eddie), and a hamster (hami). The only pet that really had a connection with me was my Ferret. i didn't name him because between my brother and I we had a huge argument about naming our pets so to save myself all the brother sister arguments I let him name them all.Even though my brother named the ferret, the ferret always snuck out his cage and squeezed under my door and fell asleep in my bed. When i held him he would fall asleep in my arms like a new born baby and he would always wait for me to come home, so we can play hide and go seek. Of coarse I was always the one seeking for him. Sparky wasn't a man's best friend kind of dog, that's how he got his name because he was always so hyper and always getting himself in trouble, Hami was named after a show called Hamtoro, and Pepe after a dog my mom use to have when she was younger. He liked my brother more though, because every time someone got near my brother he would bark and lay next to him and follow him everywhere! Animals are very smart sometimes smarter than humans. They sense fear and danger and communicate with one when they are hungry, need attention or need to use their facilities. We also can communicate with animals by teaching them right from wrong. Sooner or later they will catch on to what your trying to make them learn. Activists usually waste their time trying to stop animal cruelty, because in my opinion you can't change a criminal's mind by telling them to stop animal abuse. Abuse comes out of pure anger and hatred Yeah it's wrong and i"m 100% against it but what can you do. Other than Treat your pets like you would want someone to treat you. With care, respect, and attention. Animals have their own rights just like humans have theirs. I don't think there's a limit to how we can treat our pets unless you decide to kill you pet or beat it because you had a bad day then that's deffenitley where you draw the line!
ReplyDeleteI have a dog named Madden. Its a girl and she is a pitbull. My brother came up with the name from the video game madden. It sounds silly but every time he would put the game madden in she would start barking so that's how she got her name. My dog used to live with my brother because he bought the dog but shes been living in my house for 6 years now and i love my dog to death. I think my dog can really communicate with me She is probably the most friendly pitbull around and all my friends love her. . I feel as if madden knows when i am upset or when i am being attacked by my older brother she always jumps in Anytime she needs to go out side and use the bathroom she waits in front of the door and starts barking, when madden is hungry and wants to eat she would run up and down the hallway barking for food. I don't think people waste there time fighting for dogs rights because if we don't fight for them no one else will, And if that is the case people will continue bad things like dog fights, and animal cruelty without any punishment. Every dog has feelings and shouldn't be treated cruel for any human pleasure. People should keep fighting fr dogs. Usually the people who abuse dogs do it from anger and no self control. there should be a limit to what people do to there do to there dogs. If you beat your dog on a daily bases, dont feed it, and show it no love, and do things that dogs wernt meant to do then you should not own a dog . I treat my dog as if it was my own kid. some people in this world just have no heart if they beat there dog or make there dogs fight.THAT is were i draw the line.
ReplyDeleteYes I own a pet his name is fluffy and he is a cat. My mom wanted to name him that because he is orange and white just like a peanut butter fluff sandwich. I thought it was kind of funny so it stuck with him. And also his hair gets all over everything so he’s like a big fluffy hairball. I do believe that I can communicate with animals to some extent. I cant have a full blown conversation with them but we have our own way of getting things across to each other. like if im home he will just start to meow and ill say come here and he will run up stairs to my room and ill pet him and if he wants to go out side he will meow and ill let him out so we can communicate in order both of us to live in the same house I guess. But I feel like I can communicate with other peoples dogs and animals because my next door neighbors have 3 pit bulls and a Rottweiler that looks like a bear. And at least once a week one of them will break out and I always help them out cas there cool peoples. They will be running up and down the street screaming at the dog to come hear and it just keeps dipping down the street but as soon as I say get over hear the dogs run straight to me. I think that most dogs actions are controlled by dominance if you feel like your scared of the dog then its not going to listen to you. You have to put fear in there heart you don’t have to hit them but you have to put them in there place so that they will listen. Everything in life is about respect all animals know what you mean when your talking to them. Like if you say don’t eat something and the eat it anyway they heard you they just didn’t care that’s why you have to train your animals to respect you. I think its good for like animal rescue and those types of people that help animals that aren’t getting treated right but as for like the peta people that say we shouldn’t eat meat and should let all the zoo creatures out I think that’s a waste of time. I think animals have rights but not like human rights a animal is like your property but I feel like everything that if you don’t treat it right it should get taken from you. I believe that all animals should be taken care of feed and sheltered good and not abused that should be the animal rights if someone doesn’t comply with those rights that the animal should get take from them that is the line

ReplyDeleteI had to do so much before I got a pet. My mom never liked animals so it was tough to get one. I got my first pet this year it’s a puppy pit-bull. Her name is Sahara, my girlfriend was their when I first got it and she helped me name it. It took us a very long time b4 we could think of it and agree to it. I think you can communicate with pets. When you tell them to sit or to come here that’s communication. Most dogs have to learn or be trained before they can do anything. I think you can communicate with animals, sometimes when I’m outside and I whistle I feel as if the birds whistle back. I’m not sure if you can communicate with all animals, because some are wild. It can’t be a waste of time, animals eat, sleep an S&*# like we do. That’s why we have doctors, zoo keepers, and all that other good stuff so human beings and animals could be taken care of at the same time. I mean I play with my dog when I have the time too. I walk her; feed her, fall asleep with her in my bed. Not all animals have the comfort that every other animal has, but it’s still there. Animals don’t have rights; they can’t walk the streets like we do, they can’t walk into a restaurant and just order something like we can. Some live in cages, some live out in the world, in peoples trash. I think they should have some type of freedom. If they go out they have to come back though. It should be how us people are today. If we could do something, they should be able to do something. It crosses the line when they start biting, killing people. Or when animals are killed by people, because their trespassing, or their life threatening. All animals have a bite to them, just like people do. It wouldn’t be fair for animals to be put to sleep for a bite, or a scratch that they caused to a human being. If that was the case then people should get disciplined for the bites or scratches they cause to others.
ReplyDeleteI used to have three cats until I moved to my grandma’s house their names were Kali which is the oldest and peaches and creamsicle which are brother and Sister I necessarily still have them but they disappear every now and then. Creamsicle got his name because of his color fur and peaches got her name because the very first ting my sister said when she seen her was peaches and that’s what she called her so it stuck and kali I really don’t know how we came up with that name my step mom named her when we got her yes I do believe that people can communicate with their pets because for example one night after I moved in with my grandma creamsicle was jumping all over the place meowing and pacing back and forth and we kept on asking what was wrong and he would run from the deck to the basement so we went into the basement and sure enough kali was stuck in the well he was trying to tell us that kali was in trouble and every time ask the cats something they always respond some way I think if you take the time everyone could communicate with their animals I think the activists should keep campaigning the rights for animals because I hear of way to many cruelty cases against animals and it’s just sad if human beings have rights why not animals they deserve rights to and there not wasting their time at all they should keep doing what they’re doing like what I said before they are just standing up for what they believe in well if animals don’t they should have rights for some people they will have limits and then some don’t have limits I guess it depends on what kind of person you are I draw the line when they are too aggressive because living in a house with little kids you can’t have aggressive animals and when they bite and if they mess in the house that’s where I draw the line

ReplyDeleteYes, I have a dog named Prancer. I didn’t get to choose the name, my mom chose the name. My mom named the dog Prancer after the reindeer. I do not believe you can communicate with your pets but I believe they can sense how you feel and know how to act around you when you’re feeling a certain way. I believe animals do communicate with you on a small level like when I’m feeling down or sick Prancer comes into my room an sleeps beside my bed. When I’m feeling happy Prancer is more playful and energetic. I believe animal rights are ok to an extent like common rules like starving a human isn’t humane so why starve an animal? If you can’t feed an animal, why do you have one? That is how I look at it. I believe animals should have more of a free roam instead of being in a house they should be required to be outside where they can run around in your yard but they would have to sleep inside when it gets below or above certain temperatures outside.
ReplyDeleteI have a cat in Puerto Rico named Laly and a Russian Cinnamon hamster named Billy. My cat is actually a Mutt. I named her Laly because I use to have a cat named Lila and she died! Lila one night had gone outside and two big black dogs killed my baby. I was crying and got so upset! That I grabbed my little brother's BB gun and started shooting the dogs. Now I know I should have never done that, but I loved my cat! And since it broke my heart, my grandma surprised me with another cat which looked exactly like my baby Lila. White, yellow and black with a little bit of cream, she was so cute and little. That's why I had to name Laly, Laly because now I can always have Lila on my mind. When it comes to Billy my grandma choose his name, well she really didn't pick it. She just said many names out loud and I was like "why not Billy?" I like Billy the rat. It sounds funny to have a rat named Billy! and I loved it. I love animals and everything about them. Most importantly they can feel some how, when your sad. They either lick your face when crying, rub against you body. Why do I love them? Well they listen! They actually stare at you as if they knew what you were talking about. When your sad and alone they accompany you. I thank God for animals in general. My mom doesn't want me to have any pets here other then Billy because she has Asma and so does my little brother. Which sucks because they don't like my little Billy / they either look at him or just say "Stephanie did you feed your rat." Hey at least that lets me know they care some how,and if I was going to travel or something I know my baby will be safe! Animals should be loved and campaigns to save animals and stuff are definitely worth it, Because it only takes one to make a difference..Animals do and should have right at all time's. They feel pain just like we do, cry like we do and even need company like we do. In words they are humans with four legs..
ReplyDeleteWow I’m back on my blog status. Pets what can I say about pets? Well when I lived in North Carolina I use to have a lot of pets. I Had Dogs and Hamsters. Hamsters were my 1st pets. My brother and I had our own hamsters. We had them for like a week but I was sad when mines died. Last time I saw my hamster it had crawled under the stove but never came out. I was searching for it every minute of that day to find it. I stood next to the stove for the rest of the day. But it never came out and I wondered why. I was about 8yrs old when this happened. That was the last time I saw it I assumed it was dead. I’m not even sure if it came out when I walked away for a couple of seconds. It didn’t matter because I would always play with my brother hamster. He didn’t really care about his hamster. So I treated it like mines and took really good care of it. We didn’t have names for the hamsters. I was too happy and forgot to name them.
ReplyDeleteThen my family and I moved to a bigger house in North Carolina. We had 3 dogs. One named Lady another named Fatso and last but not least Charlie. Lady was a female dog. I forgot what kind of dogs they were. Anyways Lady was a normal dog. Meaning she would eat normal instead of neither too much nor too little. Her behavior was mostly happy and barely was a sad dog. Lady was an all black dog with no other colors. That was my 1st dog I ever had. Then Fatso came along. His name said it all. Yes he was type fat. I’m pretty sure he was a German shepherd mixed with something else. He was like my all time favorite dog. Fatso was brownish with some black in his color. That was a beautiful dog. The last dog I got was named Charlie. My brother one day brought Charlie home. He found him somewhere on the streets. He was a nice a dog along with the other dogs. He looks like Clifford the cartoon dog but he wasn’t red. He was all black like Lady. Charlie was a grumpy dog and if you would touch him then he would growl or bark or bite at you. He came from the streets so I knew the reason why he acted like that. The bad news about all of them is that I don’t have them no more.
See my dad was a truck driver and still is and goes around the country. It was one summer that we took lady and Charlie with us on the road. We was somewhere in Alabama at a truck stop. My dad tied them up to the truck and Lady gotten loose and ran off into the woods. Charlie saw that lady took off and so he got loose and chased Lady. Since then I had Fatso and only Fatso left. But one day I came from school and my dad and my mom’s cousin was backing out the driveway and ran over fatso. I didn’t see it but I saw Fatso dead body next to my house and poked him but he was harder than a rock. My mom explained what happened then we buried him in the backyard.
If I could have communicated with them I would probably still have them till this day. I don’t think animals are waste of time besides cats. Cats are useless. Dogs are a mans best friend plus they can protect you unlike cats. All cats do his crawl couches and meows all day. I don’t understand why people get cats.

Oh boy! I have about twenty something pets. I have horses, dogs, cats, chickens, goats, a lamb, a pig, a cow, a goose, ducks and many more. If I had one animal I would love to write about would be my horse. His name is Mercedes and no, I did not name him I got him about 5 years ago for Christmas. My parents took me over to go ride him "for my cousin" and I fell in love I was so angry that he was not mine. Turns out on Christmas morning the put a big bow on him and told me he was mine and yes, I did cry because I was so happy. I barrel race him in competitions almost every week and I love it. He is super fast and takes a great barrel. I love him. Yes, I talk to my horse all the time I know he understands me :) I think people whop try to save animals are completely right because people really do abuse animals.. They have feelings too they are living things. I would love to be able to help animals and be an animal rescue when I get older. Everyone has their own limits to what they think is right and wrong so push it to the limit! I love animals and would do anything for them! :)
ReplyDeleteYes I do currently have pets; I have a girl golden retriever named Brandie Ginger Dean and two male zebra finches name C.D. and B.H. My dad chose the name of our dog because she is the color of brandy and her middle name is ginger because that was our previous dog’s name. The zebra finches are another story, C.D. stands for “cool dude” because he is the biggest out of the birds and my friend Nora named the other bird B.H. for “booger head”, we were only about twelve when we gave them these “wonderful “names. I do believe that animals can understand us, but not by what we say, by the way we act and sound. For example if use a happy voice when talking to my dog she gets excited and wags her tail no matter what I am saying to her, but if I use a harsh stern voice she gets frightened. My dog in a way communicates with me and can tell how I am feeling, if I had a bad day she goes up to me and nudges my hand while wagging her tail till I smile. My birds seem to chirp a lot more when I’m sad, like they are trying to cheer me up. I don’t think I could get through the day without seeing my dog or hearing my birds. I appreciate the activists that spend hours protesting and teaching people about animal rights, animals cannot speak for themselves and that is where we come in to show the world their needs. Humans are animals too and far too many people forget that fact, we are all living breathing beings on this earth and should treat each other fairly. That’s the main reason I am a vegetarian, eating animals is like cannibalism to me, we are all equal on this planet. Animals like people should have rights; they feel pain and can think and learn just like us. Where did we evolve from? Monkeys, who are animals and think and learn, just look at a pack of wolves, they stick together like a family and elephants spend their whole lives around their family and remember all of it. There’s no limit to what we can do for them because in my mind they are like us, needing love and attention and someone to look out for them. Denying animals rights is like denying other people rights, animals cannot fight back and deserve all the help we can give them.
ReplyDeleteI have had many pets in my life and I think I will always have them in my life. We have 4 cats and 1 dog. See the thing is I’m not a dog person really I’m more of a cat person because they are easy to take care of and they are just great. Out of the 4 cats we have and had, I think I would have to pick Boo. We named him that because all black and he’s a boy. He is a cool cat, you walk by him when his laying down he will try to grab your feet to attack them. He sleeps all the time and in funny spots. He does some funny stuff to. Cats are just amazing, I think. One day my mom felt to go get some fruit and an hour later she come back with a black cat. He was so small and a mean one when we first got him but after a few weeks he was cool. I don’t think I can communicate with my animals I just can see myself talking to them like a person. I know they have feelings and stuff but I could never talk to an animal face to face. I do think that animals can try and communicate with you. Like I know when my animals want love they come and rope on your and if they need food they will make some kind of noise to get my attention. I think it’s great that people try to help animals out but there is a point where you have to say okay I can’t save this animal or I can’t get another animal for my home. I think people that are living with 50 dogs and 100 cats are killing them self and the animals as well. Most of people that have that many animals loss there family members first then they lost their lives because taking care of that many animals is crazy. It’s had today that animals have a right, this is hard to talk about I really look at this as an odd question. But I know that cats are the best animals in the world and they are so cool to play with and just be around.
ReplyDeleteI use to have dogs but after a while my parents always got rid of them. For now I do have a dog but he doesn’t stay with me. I use to have a German shepherd and her name was angel and now I have a Chihuahua and his name was spot. I chose the name for my first dog angel because when we got her everyone was scared of her because she was a German shepherd but to me she was very playful and like a little angel so I named her angel. As for my Chihuahua I named him spot because when we got him he was the only one with spots on him so like typical I just named him spot. I think I can communicate more with my Chihuahua then I did with my German shepherd. Mostly because of the fact that my dog angel was trained by my father and he purposely bought her to protect so when we were younger we were not allowed to play too much with her. As for my dog spot he was my dog so I got to train him and he always knew who I was. Still every time I go to see him he remembers me and listens to what I tell him to do. My dog angel only communicated with me when she was hungry because she would get close and give me the puppy dog face and groan. My other dog spot on the other hand communicated with me differently. He would come up to me and curl near my leg when he wanted me to lay down with him and if I didn’t give him enough attention he would groan and put his head down to the ground. Another thing my dog spot would be was jealous he did not like sharing me at all if he saw me play with my baby cousin he would bark and jump on top of me so I would grab him. I do not think activists are wasting time because I think their cause is good and very understandable. I don’t like mistreatment of animals either but I as well eat meat and even though I know how the meat is made I still enjoy it. I think in the only right people tend to give them is when their house pets. Most people agree that when their house pets theirs no justification for mistreatment but when their meant for food then there’s a different story. I think animals should have rights to live to an extent and not be as mistreated as some people do. I believe there should be a limit to what people do to animals but not a limit to what they do for them. Animals should not be beaten or forced to fight each other, they should not be locked up in small areas. I think animals have the right to food, water, and a descent shelter. They shouldn’t be abused and even if their food i don’t see it necessary to abuse the animal before. I think if their going to obviously be food then they should have that at least.
ReplyDeleteAnimals are something I adore. I have two chihuahua named Destiny and one named Baby. Baby is mixed with another breed of dog that makes her fat. Either that or she steals Destiny's and thats the reason why she's skinny. I actually didn't choose the names of these dogs, my dogs. Both of them are basicly my mothers, I don't claim them because I don't want them. To communicate with these dogs would be like trying to communicate with flies. They're too stupid to do anything with. I do think that you can communicate with other animals though, just not mine. The animals that you can communicate with you can actually tell and feel the connection with them. How? Well they sit there and stare at you as if they knew what you were saying. I do believe animals should have the right of a human. They are innocent until proven guilty. By doing the whole campaign it's helping the animals that are getting abandoned, hurt, and abused. I think it's honestly great. There actually shouldn't be a limit to how animals are treated. There's nothing wrong with people treating their pets and animals like kings and queens, there's just a problem with people treating them like shit. I just know people should treat other's including their animals the way they would like to be treated!
ReplyDeleteYes i Have two pets. i have one dog an one cat. My dog name was Cinnamon. She is a full red nose pitt. She got that name from her fur color .The people we got her from named her before we got her , because i wanted to name her Polo or Gucci. She just died, It was last friday. She had something in her insides i forgot what it was called though. An i also have a cat. i ask myself why do we have a cat everyday, but i couldn’t tell you. It is a girl also her name is Jigga. She was named from my dad, because his favorite rapper is jay-z. Well thats why i think he named her that. I really Don’t like that cat. Anyways i do think you could communicate with animals, because i know a whole lot of people that just sit their an talk to their pets. Yes they can communicate with you back. I know this because when i had my dog i used to say “ get ’em “ an she used to go crazy an try to get who ever i said go get. An when you say something to them they would bark or something. I think thats good animals have somebody to campaigning for them, because they really can’t speak up for themselves or protect themselves when their treated badly. No they are not wasting their time because with a animal they can’t just go to a phone or go to the police station if they have a problem or somebody is messing with them. Humans can do all this thats why i say they are not wasting their time, an shouldn’t be helping humans. I think they don’t have rights, But they should. They should because they are living things just like everyone of us. Their should’t be a limit on what people do for their pets, because some people don’t have kids an don;t want so they get a dog or something an treat it like its their child.I think people should draw the line when they start letting dogs an stuff lick an kiss them in the mouth. Thats just nasty .
ReplyDeleteI have a pit-bull named Leo. I’m so glad that this is this weeks blog topic because I recently just got him 2 months ago. He is now 4 months and 11 days old. I seriously love my dog to death and don’t know what I would do with out him. Actually my brother chose his name. He named him after Leonardo from ninja turtles. I really have no clue why but he really seemed to like that name a lot. Every name that I thought was a good idea he would just say naaahhh. Yes, I do believe that you can communicate with animals in general because I know I communicate with my pet. And yes animals can communicate with you. I know that animals communicate with you because when you tell a dog, that is trained, to sit and they sit. I know some dogs that if you say speak they bark. So yes animals do communicate with you. Yes, honestly I believe that they really are wasting their time campaigning for the right of animals. First of all they are not going to win no matter what the case may be with animals. Yes I believe that animals have rights as well. They should not be treated any differently than humans. They should be treated evenly. I know I treat my dog just how I would treat a person. And no I do not have a limit for dogs. I know I don’t have a limit for my dog. I believe that my dog should be able to do whatever he wants unless he is doing something he isn’t supposed to be doing. I always have my dog inside. I guess it depends on the person. If they don’t want their dogs inside then keep them outside.
ReplyDeleteI dont own a pet, but if i was to get one i would get a dog, a Siberian Husky to be exact.I have a lot of friends that own pets and when i go over their houses they always get excited and what not. This is how animals communicate, they dont have to actually open their mouths and say words to let you know how they feel. For example, if they start smelling you around, the first time they see you, theyre trying to get to know you. When they wanna use the bathroom they start getting all up in your business and whining and all that stuff.Even when we eat at home they're always right next to your plate to see if youll throw some food at them. Sometimes they even get used to a name, theyll respond when you call them by either barking or walking over (a dog in this case). When you play fetch with them, animals are smart even though they dont use all their capabilities sometimes. They'll lay down with you to try and protect you, thats why theres guard dogs too. Many animals are trained nowadays to perform certain jobs that us humans cant even do, like dogs that smell drugs at the airport.Horses trained to race, Circus animals, animals that can be consumed, etc are various examples of how animals can be used in our everyday life. Its not that i dont think animals should have rights, but we should have common sense with them, just like we do with other humans. Obviosuly if an animal is trying to attack you on the streets or the woods or whatever you should protect yourself over the animal. We cant abuse them, if you ever get a pet you should treat it with respect and feed it,you take full responsability of that animal.People out there spending time fighting over animal rights need to stop. If you want something done, just sign a petition for it, dont go out protesting because youre just wasting time causing chaos, theres better things to worry about. In conclusion, we should always know where to draw the line with pets and animals, use your common sense, use your brain. There's no need to actually go and pass bills for these animals when theres better things we could or should be doing, like helping other humans. If you feel like you cant handle the responsability of a pet then dont get one, always make sure you have enough money or room in your house.
ReplyDeleteI do have a shorkie, named Toby, but since i recently moved I had to leave him to my mother. Now where i live, theres another dog within the household, named Emma. Im pretty sure shes a Shit Tzu. I didnt choose her name, my sister-in-law did, due thats my sister-in-law had her ever since she was born (now shes 3 years old). Ive known Emma for a year now and shes extremely demanding; She likes things done her way or the highway. Emma lets you know how she feels all the time; if she wants to play, she jumps around and plays with your feet; if she wants to eat, she'll pull the bowl; if she wants to go out and take care if her business, she scratches on the door; if someone is coming, she barks until the person leaves. I believe shes pretty smart for all that she knows how to do. The only flaw that i think she has is that she likes to be on top of everybody, for example this one particular night, my fiances family and I were playing pictionary. I guess she wanted to sit next to me everytime it was my fiances turn to play, therefore, after his 6th turn, she got tired of getting up everytime he went to sit down, my fiance and I tryed to push her off because she was stiff and she tryed to bite us. Otherwise, shes a good doggie =] . I do think we can communicate with our animals, it just takes them time to adjust to their surroundings. I mean Emma is bilingual, she understands both languages perfectly, well at least all the damands we tell her to do. I believe activist are doing a great job at what they are doing, animals need all the support they need. Humans and animals are not the same, as we can clearly see but they do need attention because we are not the only ones living here. Oh and about their rights, i asked my sister this question, and she's totally for animals having rights, she said that animals should be free, with dicipline, but free. I agree. I mean can you imagine seeing an animal being abused? Well i have, it was the worst feeling ever. I remember that day like it was yesterday back in my home country. My father was on his way taking me to school and on the road we see some jerk driving, dragging a puppy outside of his truck while he was driving . . . my dad and I just looked at each other, like "are you serious?" look. At that time my father owned a gun, he stopped the driver, pointed the gun to his head and took the puppy away from him. I mean it was a bit much, but my father and I just couldn't let him go like that. We couldnt decide where to take the puppy (since in Dominican Republic, theres no such thing called shelters), so we took it home, where we had like 5 other dogs.
ReplyDeleteNo I dont have any pets , I had one but he was put to sleep. He was a shitzu and his name was Bits. We named him this because when we bought him he was 6 weeks old and he was really small. And my aunt had a dog name kibbles so we thought it would be cute to name them too after the dog food. Yes I can communicate with him and he could communicate with me , he was very smart he knew what we were saying I never understand how but he understood. He use to have this snack It was Bacon and usually when he did something good we would reward him and I use to show him the bag his tail use to wag. Another way was when he had to go to the bathroom he use to sit by the door until we opened it and took him for a walk. I dont think their wasting their time animals arent humans but they deserve rights just like we deserve rights, by them being animals it shouldnt matter they have feelings too. I dont think animals have rights , only because they are not people. However, they should have boundaries to what people can do to them, I think when people start to abuse the animal such as hitting them , is when you should draw the line. Animals cry just like we cry , they feel pain just like we feel pain , they become happy and sad , so why should they get treated any different ?
ReplyDeleteDo animals even HAVE rights? Should they? Should there be a limit to what people do for them? If so, what is it? If not, where do you draw a line?
ReplyDeleteindeed i do have a dog, she is a beautiful yellow lab who is as a matter of fact pregnant! her name is roxy and shes 3 years old. i picked that name because i got a really cute roxy sticker for my car and she loooks like a roxy! my dad trained my dog like he did alll of the past dogs and she listens so well, you tell her to go away she goes away. u tell her to lay down, she lays down. i love my dog now that i think about it. dont get me wrong the dog i had before was a chocolate lab and she was exellant, but there is something about roxy that didnt compare to my old dog zoey. she understand me like im talking in dog language or something, its actually really creepy. haha whe she needs to go to the bathrooom she gets all hyper and up in your face, u say roxy gotta go pee pee really fast she runs to the door. or when she needs to eat she stand by the washer because she knows thats where her treats are. i think the time people spend on campaigning for animal cruelity is just a wonderful event, such as the really really sad commercial that is 4 minutes long with a reallly sad song and abused dogs and cats. people in this world are so damn harsh.. why do u have to take your pain or anger or whatever u have out on your poorpoor pets? ITS JUST NOT RIGHT! i believe people feed into the commercial and what not, i mean if i had rooom in my house i would deffanitly go to the ASPCA and rescue most of the animals there. i feeel really bad now tat im typing this beuse i can just imagine the commercial coming on and me turning it beuse it would make me tear up.. of course i think animals should have rights for sure, they cant speak so therefore someone neeeds to stick up for them, its sad. they should never draw a line on animal cruelity no matter how hard they try just some people in the world will always beat there dog, for whatever reason, its just always gonnna happen. the belll rang i gotta go!
Yes I do have a pet, I actually have two, one is named Mindy and the other is Tobby. Mindy is a Chihuahua and Toby is a Yorky terrier. My dad brought home Toby a couple of years ago and he already had a mane. Mindy, we got her a couple of months ago, my mom, dad brother, sister, and I all wanted to name her different names. So, to make it fair we each wrote down the name we liked on a piece of paper, put the names in a bag, and had someone pick out one of the pieces of paper with a name. The name on the paper that was chosen was Mindy, which was my sister’s choice. No one else wanted to name her that but it was fair (I guess) so we stuck with Mindy.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think you can communicate with your pets, they start to learn their way around with things and learn, when you tell them something repeatedly they start to know what your are telling them to do. Like my dog Toby you tell him “outside” and he runs to the door, sometimes he comes up to you and cries and runs to the door showing you he needs to go the bathroom. Mindy on the other hand I think she is kind of slow, she doesn’t listen to anything, she just looks at you then she runs away. When you take her outside and tell her to come back in, she runs away from you and is IMPOSSIBLE to catch, especially because she is so tiny. But, when you tell Toby to come inside he listens. When I am in the living room Toby comes running and jumps on the sofa to look outside, I look out the window and there’s nothing there, then about ten to twenty seconds later, my mom or dad show up in the driveway.
I think activists should keep campaigning for the rights of animals. Animals should have right as do humans. Just like people shouldn’t be abused, neither should animals, people shouldn’t be murdered, killed, nor any kind of violence, and neither should animals! There’s no doubt about it. No they are not wasting time helping humans because animals need protection and help as well as the humans do. Especially in today’s society, everyone needs protection. There’s no limit to what people should do for animals. Animals have to be taken care of just like we humans do, point blank. There are so many people that love and care for animal, as do I, and would do anything to make them safe. If you don’t take care of other living things, and be cruel, then why should anyone try to help you? That’s where I draw the line!

ReplyDeleteI have the two greatest pets in the world. Their names are Ginger and Nikki. They both are Australian Cattle dogs, Heelers for short. Ginger is 11 now, we’ve had her since she was a young pup. Nikki is the newest one. We got her last year, she’s about one in a half now, still a cute little puppy. I love them both to death and wouldn’t trade them for all the money in the world. Ginger, well my dad named her and I was too young to remember the reason for it. She does look like a Ginger though, it’s the perfect name for her. Nikki, my dad named after me. I’m the one who found her so my dad wanted her name something with me. One of my nick names is Nicky, so since that’s a girls name too, we named her that. My dogs are known for their intelligence. They are so dang smart though. I swear they understand everything you say. And they tell you when they need to go potty, or need some water, or just want to play. You can see it in there adorable little faces that they understand. They are highly trained, my dad did a good job with that. They really do what they are told and you can see in their faces when they do something bad. They will have their ears down and look sad, and you know they did something bad. It is really cute though. You couldn’t wish for any better dogs. Animals and pets are killed and abused every day. In Europe, I forget which country, they will hang greyhounds when there done with them. That just makes me sick and it’s so inhuman. So it doesn’t surprise me when I see activists that spend hours campaigning for the rights of animals. People like Mike Vice abusing those pit-bulls, makes me sick. He shouldn’t have an NFL career anymore. He should have had a much harsher punishment. So those people are sure not wasting their time protesting, trying to save the lives of animals and pets. We have enough people helping other human beings out in this world. So why not campaign for the rights of animals, they still pay taxes, their still helping us out. I think animals should have rights, they pretty much do though. But like every other famous, wealthy person that does something bad, they get let off pretty easy, like that low life Mike Vic. Animal deserve to be treated right, and with respect. I mean, if something happened to one of my dogs, I would be devastated. If someone hurt one of my dogs, It wouldn’t end well for them. I would make sure they suffer the consequences. They breathe, hurt, and feel, like us. Animals deserve that right to live, and be respected, like ourselves.
ReplyDeleteOk so here's the deal. I just wrote the whole 300 words and gave you pretty much my whole life story on animals and the computer deleted all of it. Since you are the teacher you are and english doesn't bother me, I'll do it all over again. So I have three animals. Two cats and a dog. Dexter, Gary, and Willie are their names. There is nothing special about their names. They are just names, it beats the hell out of calling them just dog or cat1 cat2. Its not that I'm an emotionless bastard to where animals dont deserve names. I feel that people don't deserve names either. I have an odd mentality, a name is just a name. Nothing more nothing less. I am not my name, I might as well be a monkey with a simple task to do. So now back to animals. The way certain countries treat animals makes me want to kill people. I could be an activist, but I don't like the idea of being ignored in such an important topic. I think the Japanese should be stopped for slaughtering dolphins. The Russians should be treated the way they treat cats and dogs. Too bad life isn't fair. People will get their just desserts in the end. Activists need more attention. If they were noticed more, I would actually consider being a vegitarian. I think I can communicate with my animals, they are very peculiar. My cat, Willie, will meow at me if he is outside, he likes to bug the crap out of me. Dexter, my dog, is a coffee addict. Anytime he hears the pot brewing he goes nuts. Ms. there is so much I wanna do to help everyone and everything, but i can't do it in one lifetime. This makes my self motivation go wayyyy down. I want to create, destroy, help, heal, kill, and cause pain. I can't do all this in one life. I'm a sane psycho. Animals should be treated right. We are not superior to animals, because animals have been around longer than we have. Where do we get the nerve to abuse or mistreat animals. I have a theory that if you are an animal abuser you are less than shit to me. Lower than a murderer. I would steal the last breath from the person who deliberately hurt my animals. Just thinking about this makes me want take the lives of many. This is the second time writing this. So you beter enjoy it.
ReplyDeletei have a cat i got him seven months ago from a litter of about sixteen at my friends house. his name is mufasa and i picked him out of the bunch because every time the dad would walk up to the little ones they would all run away but not mufasa he ran right at him and jumped on him and tryed to play and this is when he was a baby now he is like ten pounds and hes not fat he is just big and another thing i love about him he is crazy like ill be walking and if i walk past him and dont give him any love he bites my toes or try to trip you and he will claim up on something to get in my face. yes you can talk to your pet well i can me and mufasa have talks about a bunch of things like what he wants or ill tell him to stop and he will stop dead in his tracks and come to me. he is a good boy and knows how to let me know he is hungry with a little meow not a long annoying one and when he wants water he will get in my face and lick my fore head i dont know why he just dose. people who spend hours trying to help animals have good hearts and care about how an aniamal cant really help its self but i think if you have that much time you should help a few fellow humans but i think they should have some rights like we have now like you cant just beat the hell out of your pet when your haveing a bad day also i think the way we kill some of the animals we eat could be i little quicker and not as barbaric and people should do what they feel is right to help some of these guys i say some because i love food and will eat just about anything.
ReplyDeleteI never really had a pet to begin with,or a pet i could say was mine but i can see the bond that other of my family members share with there pets. i think what animal activists are doing is a positive movement because even though we have intelligence over the animals this is as much of their world as it is ours.
ReplyDeleteYes I have a pet and its a golden retriever. His name is Garth and my mom named him after the country singer. I do believe that animals can comunicate with us in some way.
ReplyDeleteyes i have 2 dogs there both great danes there names are smalls and chubbs.they can communicate woth me somehow i always know what they want the people that spend all there time trying to help animals are ok up to a certin point some of them go a little overbord they are just animals. they do have there rights.but not many and some people treat there dogs way to good, better then they treat most people you have to draw the line ware you love them but dont care about them more then anyone else in your family
ReplyDeleteYes, I have a cat named Officer Skittles she’s got to be the best cat ever in the whole world. The name I remembered from being a little kid, at my cousin Johns house in Mispa there was this hyper entertaining jumping bean of a kid and for whatever reason I don’t remember his name. In any case I remember when we played man hunt he always named himself Officer Skittles and I took liking to the name. Yes I believe I can communicate with my cat I don’t know about other pets. It’s not in the way that you or me communicate but when I say meow to Skittles she says meow right back and that is good enough for me. The reason I know is whenever I say meow to Skittles she meows back at me. Honestly, yeah I believe they should be helping everything not just animals but what about the starving children in Africa? If they were as extreme activists as they’d set out to be they would be the peace keepers making sure all the hungry are fed and educated. Then maybe there wouldn’t be as many wars going on in the world over people who were just trying to get something to eat. In any case they have become an upsetting stubborn half hearted excuse for human beings. The truth about being human is it is human nature to care about things lower then ourselves, but that includes all the scumbag republicans too. Not all animals in the world have rights you cant just go into the rain forest and say here’s some rights good luck. The only animal rights you can protect for certain are your own animals rights. He or she is who you are protecting it is the way of the world to protect a littler creature like humans protect their dogs or a gorilla protects his kitty. There shouldnt be a limit to anything anyone does for animals because they have freedom of choice. They can choose to do whatever the heck they feel like as long as it ain’t no mike vik crap. Honestly who likes the Eagles anyway? Any who so if activists want me too help them out they should be a lot more realistic when they talk about the poor animals. When there are poor animals everywhere and that includes humans. If you are going to help the poor animals you might as well help the poor humans too. If you don’t you’re nothing but a hypocrite and there for your nothing but a preaching looney tunes. So I don’t know about you but when I see Sarah Mcglocklan commercials about animals I think hey, anything sad fits perfectly well with country music so why don’t they put it with the starving African children? Maybe the south isn’t all that changed from the past at all but besides that they should care about children at least its our own species.
